  • The Captain Alfred Shaw Scholarship

    The Captain Alfred Shaw Scholarship was established in memory of “old boy” Captain Alfred M.C. Shaw who attended King’s Collegiate School from 1933-1941. His son Sam (KCS 1962-1968) established this scholarship, which is awarded annually, to a returning student who displays exceptional pride in their cadet service. With the scholarship, a School cadet medal is awarded and may be worn on the cadet’s uniform.  
  • The Lady Ann Day Bursary

    The Lady Ann Day Bursary was established in honour of alumna and past long-term board member Lady Ann Day. Awarded annually to a returning student from the Atlantic provinces with a love for music.
  • The Sir Arthur Lawrence Haliburton Scholarship

    The Sir Arthur Lawrence Haliburton Scholarship was established in memory of Alumnus Sir Arthur Lawrence Haliburton, Crimean War veteran, and first native-born Canadian appointed to the House of Lords. Awarded annually to a student with great academic potential and who is deemed will make an outstanding contribution to the Public Speaking and Debating program at the School.
  • The Miss Barbara S. Briggs Scholarship

    The Miss Barbara S. Briggs Scholarship was established in memory of former Edgehill Headmistress, Barbara Briggs. Awarded annually to the student who, in the opinion of the teachers, has contributed the most to the academic standards of the School in the year the award is made.
  • The ‘Blue Bird Day’ Scholarship

    The ‘Blue Bird Day’ Scholarship is awarded annually to a returning student who best epitomizes a great love for the outdoors, skis for the KES Varsity Ski Team, and carries with them a spirit of kindness and good humour.
  • The Brandon Smith Scholarship

    The Brandon Smith Scholarship was established in memory of Brandon Smith, a student at King’s-Edgehill School from 2006-2007.  Awarded annually to a student who “thinks beyond themselves”. 
  • The Bruce Oland and Richard Oland Scholarship

    The Bruce Oland and Richard Oland Scholarship is awarded annually to a Nova Scotian resident who demonstrates outstanding leadership and academic potential.
  • The Charles Anthony Goode Memorial Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded annually to a Grade 10 or 11 student who plays with great tenacity on the KES boys varsity rugby team. Consideration will be given to students earning excellent marks in the humanities and/or who have a strong interest in the 254 King's-Edgehill School Highland Cadet Corps.  

    The Charles Anthony Goode Memorial Scholarship has been established by his brother Jonathan Goode ’96 and Charles’ widow Jeanne Clavel, family, and friends to honour Charles who passed away suddenly in August 2023.  

    Charles attended KES as a boarding student from 1993 until his graduation in 1996. During his time at the School, Charles was an honours student, a prefect, and a provincial champion in alpine skiing and men’s rugby (both in 1996). Charles competed at the National RCAC Cadet Biathlon Championship and was ranked 16th in Canada in 1995. Charles served as Company Commander in the Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment of Canada) Cadet Corps. He was awarded the Student-Athlete of the Year award in his Grade 12 year. Charles made many lifelong friends at KES.
     
  • The Chartwells Scholarship

    The Chartwells Scholarship is awarded annually to a King’s-Edgehill student who makes a positive contribution to the School, and by example and action, fosters and upholds the standards and values of the School community.  
  • The Grade 10 Cornick Proficiency Prize

    The Grade 10 Cornick Proficiency Prize was established in honour of Max Cornick. Awarded to the Atlantic Canadian with the highest standing in Grade 10 who is returning. 
  • The David K Wilson Trophy

    The David K Wilson Trophy is awarded annually to a Lifer for longevity and loyalty to the 254 King’s-Edgehill School Highland Cadet Corps. The recipient is selected through a secret ballot by the Cadet Instructor Cadre Officers and the Civilian Instructors of the 254.
  • Donald Morris Debating Prize

    Donald Morris Debating Prize was established in memory of Dr. Donald Morris.  A Silver tray was donated by friends of the late Donald J.G. Morris, M.D., School Doctor 1961-1985.  This tray will remain at the School and a silver ring will be presented annually to the recipient of the debating award who is chosen by the staff based on engagement and performance during the debate season.
  • The Miss E. A. Murray Scholarship

    The Miss E. A. Murray Scholarship was established in memory of Miss Murray, former Edgehill School Deputy Headmistress. Awarded annually to the student who has contributed the most to the artistic and cultural life of the School.
  • The Elizabeth Vincent English Prize

    The Elizabeth Vincent English Prize was established in honour of former teacher Elizabeth Vincent (1954-1980). Awarded annually to the student with the highest mark in Grade 11 English.
  • The Ferrabee Medal

    The Ferrabee Medal is awarded annually to the student in Grade 10-12 who has the highest average in the Senior School.
  • The Fideliter Prize

    The Fideliter Prize is awarded annually to the Head Students for their leadership, loyalty, and dedication to the School.
  • The Granny Marshall Prize for Science

    The Granny Marshall Prize for Science was established in honour of Mrs. Marshall who was the matron of the School (KCS & KES) during the 1960’s, 1970’s, and 1980’s. Awarded annually to the student with the highest average mark in Grade 11 Science, which requires that the student had taken at least two science courses and at least one of those at the IB level.
  • The Hickman Scholarship

    The Hickman Scholarship is awarded annually to a returning student to King’s-Edgehill School who is a faithful and dedicated learner in the Success Centre for Excellence and shows a keen interest and aptitude for the four pillars of KES. The recipient is also a student who is eager to work to “achieve his or her potential” and has been nominated by the Learning Centre Coordinator.
  • The Hugh McKay Montgomerie English Prize

    The Hugh McKay Montgomerie English Prize was established in memory of Hugh Montgomerie (KCS 1926-1933). Awarded annually to the student with the highest average in Higher Level (HL) English.
  • Irma Barnes Performing Arts Award

    Irma Barnes Performing Arts Award was established in honour of former alumni secretary and treasurer Irma Barnes (1960-1990). Awarded annually to a student, selected by the Performing Arts Director, to help defray expenses at a summer camp for the arts (dance, music, voice, art, etc) or for personal lessons of their choice.
  • The John Frederick Simpson Brown Scholarship

    The John Frederick Simpson Brown Scholarship was established by family, friends, colleagues and students in memory of John F.S. Brown (Acadia BSc ,1980,B Ed 1981, M SC 1983) who was a teacher at King’s-Edgehill School in biology and science and died at the young age of 33. Awarded annually to a student who illustrates a desire, determination, and dedication in their academic endeavors as well as in extra-curricular activities. This student has truly worked hard and may or may not excel at the top of the class but is truly worthy of their academic standing. The are also well-respected and well-rounded individual who shows an interest in the science field.
  • Headmaster John Hebb Scholarship

    Headmaster John Hebb Scholarship is awarded annually to a student who is new to the School, is a Nova Scotia resident, and enrolled as a day student (preference given to those entering Grade 9), who exhibits outstanding academic and athletic achievement and community involvement.
  • The Rt. Rev. John Inglis Scholarship

    The Rt. Rev. John Inglis Scholarship was established in memory of John Inglis, one of the first students to attend King's College in 1788 and 3rd Bishop of Nova Scotia. Awarded annually to the student who has demonstrated outstanding academic potential.
  • The John S. Derrick Prize - Junior

    The John S. Derrick Prize was established in honour of former Headmaster John Derrick. Awarded to the student in the Junior School who has contributed most to the life of King’s-Edgehill during the year.
  • The John S. Derrick Prize - Senior

    The John S. Derrick Prize was established in honour of former Head of School John Derrick. Awarded annually as chosen by the students to the student in the Senior School who is not a prefect or an officer in the 254 King’s-Edgehill School Highland Cadet Corps who most closely represents the ideals of “gentleness, learning, dignity, and respect".
  • The John S. Derrick Scholarship

    The John S. Derrick Scholarship was established in honour of former Headmaster John Derrick. It is awarded annually to a student who has demonstrated courage and tenacity in athletics and an outstanding commitment to the School.
  • The James Nicholson Memorial Prize

    The James Nicholson Memorial Prize is awarded annually to the student identified by the faculty who persevered in academics and sports.


  • Roukema Family Social Impact Award

    Daniel Roukema graduated from KES in 1992 and wanted to recognize his late father, Jan, whose career was dedicated to building leaders and communities. This prize serves as a continued commitment to encourage people to do their part to help shape the future and is awarded to a deserving student who embodies the values of diversity, inclusion, and equity, and has demonstrated excellence, perseverance, and leadership in environmental stewardship or community service.
  • The Josh Baker Memorial Scholarship

    The Josh Baker Memorial Scholarship was established in honour of Josh Baker (KES 2010-2013) and is awarded annually. The recipient is a leader in the KES community who made every student feel welcome while participating whole-heartedly in the KES athletics program. The recipient inspires and nurtures amazing relationships with students and staff alike and is a leader among their peers.
  • The Junior School Drama Award

    The Junior School Drama Award is awarded annually to help sponsor a student attending summer theatre camp.
  • The Karen Mann Young Woman of Courage Scholarship

    The Karen Mann Young Woman of Courage Scholarship was established in memory of IEF Chair Dr. Karen Mann. Awarded annually to a returning Junior School Grade 7 female who demonstrates academic excellence, community involvement, mentorship, loyalty, and unconditional acts of kindness.
  • The Leading in Learning Award

    The Leading in Learning Award was created by the Snarr-Harris Family to honour Sue Bouwman who has created a space where students develop skills to support their best way of learning and the confidence to advocate for themselves in the classroom and beyond. The recipient of this award is comfortable with the ways in which they learn. They advocate for themselves to achieve their learning goals. The recipient accesses and understands what adaptations and requirements are needed for success.   
  • The Louise MacQuarrie Bursary

    The Louise MacQuarrie Bursary was established to honour Louise MacQuarrie. Awarded annually to a day student identified by the faculty who has shown an interest in the arts – specifically writing, public speaking and drama.
  • The M. H. Roechling Memorial Scholarship

    The M. H. Roechling Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Miss Roechling, a former Headmistress of Edgehill School. Awarded annually by the Inglis Education Foundation and the Head of School to a boarding student of great promise.
  • The Captain Rick Dykens Award

    The Captain Rick Dykens Award was established in memory of Captain Rick Dykens, a former student and Cadet Officer of King’s Collegiate School from 1970-1976 and an Infantry Officer in the Canadian Forces. His family donated his personal sword, which is awarded annually to the Non-Commissioned Officer who displays qualities of leadership and self-sacrifice towards their fellow cadets.
  • The Rogers Family Trust Scholarship

    The Rogers Family Trust Scholarship is awarded annually to a Prince Edward Island student.
  • The Short Family Scholarship

    The Short Family Scholarship is awarded annually to a student who is amazingly kind and makes the KES community a better place.   
  • The Taylor Plaque

    The Taylor Plaque was created by the KES Board of Governors to honour the late KCS Alumnus and past Board Member, Dick Taylor ’52. The Taylor Plaque is awarded annually to a member of the KES Community who has made a significant and longstanding contribution to the life of King's-Edgehill School.
  • The Dr. Thomas T. Menzies Scholarship

    The Dr. Thomas T. Menzies Scholarship was established to honour former Headmaster Tom Menzies. Awarded annually to a student who has demonstrated outstanding effort in achieving their academic potential.
King’s-Edgehill School is located in Mi'kma'ki, the unceded ancestral territory of the Mi’kmaq People.
