Calculus is a Grade 12 mathematics course, in which students study topics such as limits, derivatives, integrals, and practical applications such as velocity and acceleration problems. For IB students, the course contributes to the material tested on the IB math exam. Students who enroll in this course will have an advantage as they head towards university calculus courses.

In Mathematics 10 Academic, students will learn the essential topics of math 10 at a moderate pace, and will develop strong problem-solving skills. These topics include number families, algebra, polynomials, trigonometry, coordinate geometry, statistics, and introduction to functions. By completing this course, students will be prepared to enroll in Math 11 Academic or Math 11 Precalculus in their following year.
Math 10 Honours is intended to prepare students for the rigour of IB SL, HL and Calculus courses in Grades 11 and 12. It is also strongly recommended for those planning to take Physics or Chemistry at the IB level. The contents of the course include exponents, polynomials, coordinate geometry, linear systems, trigonometry, functions and statistics, all with a focus on sophisticated problem-solving techniques.
This course is designed for students who enjoy describing the real world and solving practical problems using mathematics; those who are interested in harnessing the power of technology alongside exploring mathematical models and enjoy the more practical side of mathematics.
After briefly reviewing topics from Math 11 academic, students will continue to study topics with practical application, and they will develop strong analytical skills. Topics include statistics, sets, logic, probability, and financial mathematics. For IB Math Studies candidates, they will finish this curriculum and complete an IB math project before the exam in May.
Students will explore functions; polynomial, rational, inverse, radical, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions, including radian measure, the unit circle, and trigonometric identities. Probability will also be studied, with an emphasis on the fundamental counting principle, permutations, combinations, and the binomial theorem. Prerequisite: Grade 11 IB AA Math (SL or HL) or NS Grade 11 Precalculus.
