Creativity and Artistic Expression at the 2025 IB Art Exhibition Opening

Wow, what a well-attended opening to the International Baccalaureate Visual Arts Exhibition that took place on Wednesday, April 9! After having to postpone the opening twice, I was starting to feel as though Mother Nature did not want us to have this event – and I was beginning to wonder if anyone would be able to attend. What a wonderful surprise and an incredible turnout!

The dining hall was buzzing with excitement and conversations, filled with people admiring the creative energy that was so clearly present in each artwork. Congratulations to the inspiring group of visual arts students – you should be incredibly proud of your accomplishments! The time, effort, and dedication you’ve poured into your work over the past two years truly shows in every piece.

The IB Art Exhibition featured the incredible work of 13 Grade 12 students, alongside the artwork of our talented Grade 11 students. These students have worked relentlessly, exploring new techniques, refining their ideas, and honing their craft in preparation for this final exhibition and exam.

The exhibition addressed personal and thought-provoking topics, and it reflected the diverse and unique voices of each student. It includes both IB standard and academic level pieces from our Grade 11 and 12 students. Many of the themes that the students chose were deeply personal, revealing their passions, struggles, and moments of introspection. Their work is a testament to their bravery and their willingness to express themselves in such a genuine and impactful way. Each piece resonates with authenticity, and the students should be so proud of their courage to share their inner worlds with us.

I also want to take a moment to express my heartfelt congratulations to the entire IB class. Over the past two years, they have been an absolute pleasure to teach, and they’ve inspired me in ways I never expected. Their growth – both as artists and as individuals – has been nothing short of remarkable. The camaraderie and support they've shown each other, as well as their unwavering commitment to their craft, have made this experience truly unforgettable for all of us.

I will miss them dearly, but I know that their artistic journeys are just beginning. The creativity and vision they’ve shared in this exhibition are only a glimpse of what the future holds for them. Thank you, once again, to everyone who came to celebrate their work – your presence made this event even more special.
