Mary Poppins Jr. – Cast Spotlight!
Meet Jane and Michael Banks!
Over the next few weeks, we want to shine a spotlight on some of our leading actors in the upcoming Junior School production of Mary Poppins Jr. This week, we are introducing you to Jane and Michael Banks!
Willoughby Larder '29, a dedicated Grade 8 student at King's-Edgehill School, will be portraying the spirited Jane Banks. Jane, known for her adventurous spirit and heartwarming curiosity, is a brilliant match for Willoughby's own enthusiasm and willingness to learn. Willoughby's journey through and commitment to the arts at KES in the past couple of years has been substantial, from her avid participation in voice and piano lessons to her energetic involvement in drama and music classes. Her passion for musicals is evident, as she eagerly contributes to rehearsals, even taking on leadership roles such as teaching choreography to her fellow cast members. One of Willoughby’s most recent credits includes the role of Molly in last year’s Junior School production of Annie Jr. She is sure to deliver another enchanting performance in this show.
In another captivating role, Grade 6 student Maci MacInnis '31 steps into the shoes of Michael Banks, Jane's younger brother. Michael, characterized by his playful nature and genuine charm, finds a perfect interpreter in Maci, who has quickly made her mark since joining King's-Edgehill School this year. Despite being new to the School, Maci has already demonstrated a deep affection for the arts, participating enthusiastically in both musicals and engaging wholeheartedly in voice lessons and music classes. Her natural aptitude for dance adds an extra layer of engagement to her performances, promising an unforgettable portrayal of Michael Banks in Mary Poppins Jr.
Mary Poppins Jr. performances will be held on Friday, February 28 and March 1 at 7:00 PM, with an additional matinee on Saturday, March 1 at 2:00 pm. Join us for an evening – or afternoon – of magic and music as these young stars and many others light up the stage with their talents and passion for the performing arts.
