Operation Friendship was in full swing last week as KES welcomed 20 students from Oss, Netherlands. This reciprocal visit built on the connection we established last September when our students travelled to Maasland College to help commemorate the 1944 liberation of their town by Canadian soldiers.
During their time here, the group hiked, studied, played, and embraced Canadian culture – all while living with KES families, who generously opened their homes as billet hosts. The visit culminated in our annual Church Parade, where our Dutch guests marched alongside us and took part in the service at Christ Church.
The friendships and shared experiences built over the week reflect the lasting impact of cultural exchange and the importance of understanding one another’s history and traditions. In an era marked by rising isolationism, this visit served as a reminder of the enduring power of connection, cooperation, and shared values – and of the importance of remembering the devastating consequences of tyranny.
A sincere thank you to all the families, students, and staff – especially our billet hosts – for helping make this experience so welcoming and memorable.
