Success at the Summit Cup

Last week, our young development hockey squad headed to the St. Margaret’s Bay Arena to compete in the Summit Cup hosted by Summit Academy.

In our first game, our crew hit the ice with vigour. Through hard work and determination, we took the win over Sacred Heart 6-3. Eli Strum '28 scored three goals, Jack Shearer '29 had two, and Jack Kielty '29 had a single marker. Quinn Watt '28 had a solid performance in goal.

Our second game of the day pitted us against Halifax Grammar School. This was a much closer match, and the score was close throughout. In the end, we prevailed by the score of 4-2. Eli Strum scored all four to power us to the win.

In the tournament final and last tilt of the day, we were beaten by a well-organized Summit Academy squad. We battled hard and the game was tied well into the third period, but we could not hold them off for the duration. The game ended 6-3 for Summit. Eli Strum notched two goals while Jack Shearer had one. Quinn Watt made many top-notch saves to keep us close until late in the match.

It was a great day for all involved and the players should be commended for their considerable work ethic, humility and class.
