Highlanders Keeper Jonah Miedema '30 Meets Canadian Football Hero

Our talented junior boys soccer goalkeeper and Valley United player, Jonah Miedema '30, had the exciting opportunity to meet a local Canadian football hero this week. Jacob Shaffelburg, a Team Canada player, returned to his hometown of Port Williams, Nova Scotia, for Christmas and took the time to visit rising stars like Jonah.

"He was great," Jonah said of the meeting. "He asked us lots of questions and shared some amazing stories." Jonah's face lit up as he recalled Shaffelburg's incredible goal at the Copa America and the insights he shared about playing in Major League Soccer (MLS). "He said playing against Lionel Messi was the highlight of his career so far," Jonah explained. "He described defending Messi as inspiring because it felt like the ball was glued to his foot."

Jonah, one of our top junior boys soccer players, is already making a name for himself on the field and will continue to pursue his soccer dreams in the years to come.
