Continuing with the spooky drawing theme, Halloween takes on many forms, especially when the fertile imaginations of Grades 6 and 7 are at work. All of the entries are wonderful and have their own unique merit and story to tell. As is our custom, the Grade 12 students served as judges for the two youngest grades. In Grade 6, Charlotte Siu-Porter '31 took first place, and Penny Hopgood '31 took second place. Charlotte’s painting captures the sense of everything happening at once, where every noise and object feels frightening, despite the warm glow of color. Penny’s painting contrasts silent, creepy gore with a flock of birds overhead, their flight seemingly continuing the story. In Grade 7, Clélya Debeaumont '30 took first place, and Liam Muttart '30 took second place. Cléya’s composition is ominous and sinister, with her skillfully shaded pencil drawing, while Liam’s portrayal of a visceral, fearful face is both unsettling and captivating. Both students have shown extraordinary talent and focus in their work. Very well done to all the Grade 6 and 7 students!
