Congratulations to Our Grade 11/12 Music Class – CBC Music Class Challenge Top Ten Finalist!

We are thrilled to announce that our Grade 11/12 music class has been named a Top 10 Finalist in the CBC Music Class Challenge!

In late November, our Grade 11/12 students dedicated an afternoon to record a video for the CBC Music Class Challenge. With the added excitement of a live audience (thank you to the Grade 11/12 drama class), we recorded two takes of The Returner by Allison Russell. While some key members were absent, the class quickly adapted, making necessary adjustments and delivering an outstanding performance.

The CBC Music Class Challenge is an annual nationwide competition that invites school music programs across Canada to submit videos of their ensembles performing a song from a predetermined list curated by CBC. This challenge celebrates the musical talents of students, promotes music education, and fosters a sense of community through music. It’s a wonderful opportunity for students to connect with other music programs across the country while highlighting the importance of music education in schools. We are proud to be one of the top ten finalists in Category 9: Private Schools and the only school representing Atlantic Canada in this category! You can view our spot on the national top ten list here.

If you missed the original video that earned us this recognition, you can watch it here.

A special thank you to Mr. Daniel Kimbley, Manager of Communications and Marketing, for filming and editing this video for us.

Thank you for supporting our students in their artistic endeavors!
