A Week of Highlights in Music, First Aid and Marksmanship

Cadets from the 254 were busy on the weekend at the Cadet Training Centre attending the Greenwood music workshop. The workshop served as a fantastic opportunity for the cadets to forge new friendships and strengthen existing ones while learning marching band skills.

Attending the workshop from our drumline band was Warrant Officer Lillian Blois '27, Sergeant Emery Endres '28, and Sergeant Laura Oulton '27. All three girls play the bass drum. From our mil band and playing the bass drum was Cadet Michael Denysenko '25. Representing pipes and drums was Master Corporal Willoughby Larder '29 who plays the bagpipes.

Another highlight of the week was the Red Cross standard first aid training taught by Captain Steve Millar who made his return to KES. Captain Millar served with the 254 from 2014 to 2018 as the Training Officer. Our newly qualified first aiders are Lieutenant Karen Jones who is our current Training Officer, Igho Aigbe '26, Sergeant Royal Akinboro '26, Fedora Asoh '27, Master Corporal Isabella Buenfil Vazquez '25, Master Corporal Sophie Kraemer '25, Master Corporal Sophia Osasere '26, Sergeant Adaure Ojinere '26, Master Warrant Officer Sierra Phillips '25, Warrant Officer Max Proctor '27, Santiago Ramirez Garrido Toussaint '27, Master Corporal Sara Senior-Smith '26, Gabriel Skafte '30, and Kaegan Wells '27.

Marksman qualifications go to Chief Warrant Officer Ann MacQuarrie '25 who requalified as distinguished marksman! This is the highest level a cadet can achieve. Warrant Officer Rowan Francis '27 also qualified for distinguished marksman! This is the first time that I have presented two cadets on the same parade with their distinguished marksman badge. They both had groupings of less then 1.5 centimetres! Also qualifying was Cadet Rory Sanson '30 with marksman. That is very impressive for a Grade 7 student! Marksman qualification went to Warrant Officer Max Proctor '27 and first class marksman went to Cadet Keagan Wells to round out this impressive group.

Very well done to the high achievers in the 254 King’s-Edgehill School Highland Cadet Corps!
