KES Students Head to the Polls

On Tuesday, Nova Scotia voted – and so did our students!

A big congratulations to everyone who participated in the student vote on Tuesday! With a turnout of 43.55%, we achieved a fantastic result for the first time the program has been run.

This experience did more than just allow students to cast their votes, it empowered them to voice their opinions while developing essential skills for future civic engagement. Every vote cast represents a step toward understanding the democratic process and the impact we can have as informed citizens.

By actively participating in initiatives like this, students gain valuable insights into how our democracy functions. These experiences are designed to deepen their understanding of the electoral process and help them appreciate the importance of being an engaged, responsible citizen.

I encourage all students to continue getting involved in initiatives like this. Every voice matters!

A special thank you to the Grade 9 citizenship class for their hard work in running the polling station. I hope this experience helped all students deepen their understanding of the process and its significance.
