Highlanders Sweep Mount Academy and Honour Senior Players

This past weekend, our Highlanders hockey team played a three-game series against Mount Academy. During our two home games, we celebrated and recognized our senior graduating players.

The first game took place on the road in Prince Edward Island. The boys started the weekend on a positive note, securing a 6-3 win. Grady Betts '27 led the way with two goals, while Kristopher Brosseau '27, Artem Dorofeev '25, Alex Doyle '26, and Kasper Kossila '27 each chipped in with two points. William Bridgeo '25 was solid in net, stopping 28 of 31 shots.

Saturday night featured one of the most exciting games of the year, with a dramatic three-goal comeback in the third period. The team came out red-hot in the final frame. Liam Nash '26 scored 30 seconds into the period to cut the lead to two. He wasn’t done there, adding his second goal of the night with six minutes left in the game. In dramatic fashion, with only 18 seconds remaining, Grady Betts ripped a shot high on the blocker side, finding the back of the net to complete the three-goal comeback and send the game to overtime. After a scoreless overtime period, the game was decided in a shootout. Riko Salutskij '27 scored the winning goal, while Keaton Pardy '26 shut the door on all three of Mount's shooters, sealing the victory. Tap here to see the winning goal from ice level!

The final game of the weekend was our Senior Night, where we honoured six graduating players: Carter Cooling '25, Cole Cooper '25, Artem Dorofeev, Jack Sangster '25, William Bridgeo, and Nolan Herritt '25. The team came out firing, scoring on the first shift. Graduating captain Carter Cooling led the charge, recording a hat trick and three assists for six points. The final score was 8-2 in favour of the Highlanders, completing a three-game sweep of Mount Academy.

We have one more home game on Thursday afternoon before taking a break for March Break. Afterward, we’ll head to Montreal for the CSSHL playoffs.

We would like to thank the six graduating seniors for everything they have contributed to this program. Their hard work and dedication have played a key role in our success and growth over the past few years. They will leave a lasting impact on the team, and we hope to send them off with a successful playoff run in Montreal!
