Mary Poppins Jr. – Cast Spotlight!

Meet Winnifred and George Banks!

Over the next few weeks, we want to shine a spotlight on some of our leading actors in the upcoming Junior School production Mary Poppins Jr. This week, we are introducing you to Mrs. Winnifred Banks and Mr. George Banks!

In this production, Grade 9 student Harlo Young '28 will take on the role of Mrs. Winifred Banks. The loving but overwhelmed mother of Jane and Michael Banks, Winifred struggles to balance societal expectations with her desire to support her family, making her a complex and heartfelt character. Harlo is no stranger to the stage, having participated in numerous Senior and Junior School musicals over the past few years. Some of her standout roles include Viv and Understudy Alexis in Ranked, and the iconic Ms. Hannigan in Annie Jr. Beyond musical theatre, Harlo is a well-rounded artist, actively engaged in visual arts, drama, guitar, and voice lessons. Her talent for performing has grown immensely, and she is sure to deliver a captivating performance in Mary Poppins Jr.

Playing the role of Mr. George Banks is Grade 9 student Quinn Monahan '28, who is new to King’s-Edgehill School this year. Mr. Banks is a strict and disciplined father, initially distant from his children but ultimately grows under Mary Poppins’ influence. Quinn has made an immediate impact in the KES performing arts scene, landing the role of Francis in the Senior School’s fall production of Ranked shortly after his arrival. His natural talent in both music and drama shines through in his performances, bringing plenty of energy to his characters, along with impressive vocal ability. Quinn’s dedication to his craft is evident through his involvement in music and drama classes, as well as choir and voice lessons, all of which showcase his commitment to developing as a performer.

Mary Poppins Jr. performances will be held on Friday, February 28 and March 1 at 7:00 pm, with an additional matinee on Saturday, March 1 at 2:00 pm. Join us for an evening – or afternoon – of magic and music as these young stars and many others light up the stage with their talents and passion for the performing arts.
