The arts at King’s-Edgehill create an inclusive environment that embraces diversity – not only in who we are but also in our choices of what we pursue and how we express those choices. Creativity and imagination enable us to develop ideas, solve problems, and acquire essential life skills. Intelligence and creativity are overlapping skills, and through the arts, individuals build confidence, develop perspective, and discover their true nature.
This week we recognize Grade 10 mixed media student Peyton MacPherson '27 as our Artist of the Week. Grade 10 mixed media is a half term course designed to challenge visual impression and how to make art.
Peyton is one of those students that lives in the moment yet has a defined personal vision for her artwork. In our mixed media class, Peyton has impressed with the direction she is given and the artistic freedom she explores. Mixed media is defined as using different media: art supplies, collage, paints, and through an instructional lens that is given to the class. Her detailed storytelling within each creative piece lends itself to the viewer wanting to know more. There is a subtle and naturally talented expression to Peyton’s art pieces. Well done, Peyton!
