A Strong Start for the Highland Cadets!

With excitement 370 Highland Cadets headed over to the Tanna Turf for the launch of the Cadet program! We started up on Wednesday afternoon and this marked the start of the 144th year for 254 King’s-Edgehill School Highland Cadet Corps!

Next Wednesday, new activities will be introduced in the cadet program. All cadets will have the opportunity to canoe on Falls Lake or Pisiquid Lake, visit OnTree Adventure Park for a treetop adventure, learn martial arts in Jiu-Jitsu, develop marksmanship skills, test their fitness through the cadet fitness test, trek the stunning Mount Moses, undergo leadership training, bike local trails, learn fire-lighting techniques for camping, and receive army cadet skills training.

This fall, Grade 9 Silver Star Cadets will participate in an adventure expedition at Falls Lake from September 19-20. In the spring, Gold Star Grade 10 Cadets will embark on their leadership expedition. These expeditions are designed to challenge cadets, help them learn, overcome obstacles, and grow together as a team.

A shout-out to our cadets returning from Cadet Summer Camp courses across Canada! Warrant Officer Lillian Blois '27 and Sergeant Rowan Francis '27 returned with huge smiles after a fantastic Marksmanship course at Argonaut CTC in New Brunswick. Master Corporal Emery Endres '28 had a wonderful adventure traveling to Vernon CTC in British Columbia for a cadet expedition. Mid-summer, Sergeant Andrew Klein '27 attended Argonaut for Marksmanship Instructor training. This group brings back a wealth of knowledge to share with their peers.

It’s a great time to be a Highland Cadet in the 254!
