Tea and Nathan both won each of their three matches this weekend, at the Hants East tournament. Tea won a close one against her first opponent from Forest Heights, eventually pinning her. In her second match, against another F.H. opponent, Tea was a dominant force and was excellent in defense and offense, scoring from all positions. She won that match 10- 0 with superiority and a pin. In her final match, against another fellow Canada Games athlete team member, Tea had wrestled one of her very best matches to date. With increased confidence, Tea attempted and completed moves that she had not executed in previous tournaments. She was a force to be reckoned with. She scored with single legs, front head and arm pinch, ground work, defense and was overall dominant. She won her final 10-0, with a pin in the first round.
Nathan won his first match against his opponent from the host school, Hants East, with an eventual pin. His offense was somewhat careless and he risked giving up some points, in order to secure some of his moves. His other two matches were more typical of Nathan. He was dominant in every aspect of his wrestling. He went on to finish the tournament with no points scored against him and with pins in both his last matches. He wrestled up in the 100 kg class that had the most entries of the tournament. His most distinguished overall impression from the tournament was the admiration that his opponents and all the coaches had for him, in their comments after each match.
Our next competitive opportunity will be our 23rd Annual KES High School Wrestling Tournament on January 20th, where we look forward to having our entire team participating.
