Highlanders Shine at First Indoor Track Meet of 2025

Twenty-eight teams from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island gathered at the Canada Games Centre last weekend for the first Athletics Nova Scotia Indoor Open short track event of 2025.

It is a good thing that our junior Highlanders didn’t need to pass through any metal detectors after leaving the track on Saturday. Spencer Armstrong ‘30 earned first place in his 60m dash and earned another gold in his 150m dash. Chelsea James ‘29 has no fear of falling as she took home silver in her 60m hurdles event.

Manny Adaramodu ‘26
finished just inside the top 10 in his 60m dash. Long jump provincial qualifier, Jeremy Aigbe ‘25, ran his fastest 60m good for ninth in his age group, and then placed third in the much longer 200m dash.

Fedora Asoh ‘27 has one gear, fast, and she used it to great effect in her 60m dash as she sprinted to an eighth-place finish. Luciana Zazueta Ibarra ‘27 had not even stepped on campus before registering for this meet. Getting a lay of the competitive land and racing in her first indoor meet, Luciana finished fifth in her 1500m race.

Our next race will be on February 8 at the Saint Mary’s University Open also at the Canada Games Centre.
