Highlanders Baseball Takes on New England

The Highlanders baseball team had an exceptional weekend competing against the New England Waves and the Expos. Both teams were primarily composed of seniors from various schools across New England. In game one against the New England Waves, Nolan MacKinnon '26 started on the mound and pitched a solid five innings. Calum O'Callaghan '27 came in to relieve Nolan, walking the first three batters and narrowly missing a bases-clearing double. In true Highlander fashion, Calum showed resilience and fought hard to get out of the inning. Ultimately, the Highlanders came up short, losing their first game.

In game two, the team bounced back with a complete game pitching performance from Kail Brown '25, who led the Highlanders to a 6-1 victory against the New England Waves. On Sunday, the squad faced the Expos, who featured a team of 14 seniors while the Highlanders had six seniors, two juniors, and the rest sophomores. The Expos came into the game with an air of arrogance, but that quickly changed thanks to strong pitching performances from Yasu Hojo '25, Jake Trask '27, and Nathan Dill '25, resulting in a thrilling 9-8 win for the Highlanders.

Notable performances included Carter Cooling '25, who was on fire at the plate and made several outstanding catches in the outfield. Cael Copeland '26 was solid behind the plate as our catcher, while Kail Brown, Will Clark '25, and Alexander Slaunwhite '27 all had great at-bats throughout the three-game series. The boys also had the opportunity to watch the Red Sox face the Twins on Friday evening, and worked out at Husson University, enjoying quality time with KES alumni Cam Rendell '22 and Spencer Johnson '24.
