Taking the Stage at our Spring Coffee House

The KES Coffee House has a warm and friendly atmosphere where anybody can play a tune, recite poetry, or dance. In fact, it’s an open evening to share artistic talent and for the audience to appreciate the arts, often leaving them surprised at the quality and individuality of expression. It allows performers to take a risk and develop confidence in themselves and bring purpose and belonging in the arts sphere.

On April 18 we were treated to some fine examples of music. Bryan Ma '24 performed original compositions with voice, conga rum, and glockenspiel and a separate piece combining voice and cello. We then went on to hear a stunning version of Adele’s Rumour Has It performed by Laura Oulton '27, and then to Frances Aceron’s '24 lilting and charming voice and guitar. In addition, a beautiful trio made up of Jess Etou '24, Sabine Wellard '24, and Tanvi Manchineni '24 singing lovely harmonies, and Reina Tokonishi '27 performed a confident and rock-solid rhythm with her voice.

There were many others including Gabby Shaw '25 who soulfully sang, and Elisa Lastra Rubio '25 and Ana Pau Jimenez Flores '25 performed a fun duet. Thank you to all our performers which include Leslie Cuddihy '25, Jada Moxam '27, Renee Olsen '25, Rhya Martinello '24, Addie Burnett '25, and Ewan Shaw '30. What’s fun about Coffee House is that it motivates and inspires others to take the mic, belt it out, and get the house singing along!
