Grade 8 Acrylic Paintings

The Grade 8 art class has just finished up their acrylic paintings on stretched canvas. They should be very proud of their results! The emphasis of this painting unit was to learn the basics of how to start a painting.

First, it was important to expose the students to the materials that they would be using and to choose a subject that interests them. They were asked to pick their favourite subject. They could choose anything such as food, landscape, or their pet, choosing a subject that means something to them. Then we talked about composition, the background, and then they planned their painting idea in their sketchbook.

After the planning, the fun began, step by step, drawing the subject on the canvas with pencil, outlining the image, painting the background, and then painting the main focus of the painting. Then they did the finishing touches and signed their name to their artwork. Enjoy these amazing paintings!
