Maritime Independent League Swim Meet

On Thursday, February 22, KES held the second annual Maritime Independent League (MIL) swim meet. Many schools attended the meet. For many attending, it was their first experience at a swim meet, and it was a mixture of nervousness and excitement! But at the end of the day, it looked like all who attended had a lot of fun!

KES fielded a team of 13 swimmers, with the Highlanders team being boosted by those who have swum in the stroke improvement group this past term. Kudos to the young swimmers who did not know what to expect yet performed boldly!

While all KES swimmers deserve acknowledgment, we wanted to especially recognize our young swimmers. Meghan Yarnell '28 bit back her fear when she discovered she was entered in two lengths for her swims and she performed admirably. Ewan Shaw ‘30 swam a length butterfly and can now appreciate how strenuous the stroke is. Spencer Armstrong ‘30, who had just joined the stroke improvement group, could only compare a swim meet to a track meet and I think he enjoyed swimming the most!

Thank you to the Highlanders swim team for looking out for the new swimmers and supporting them every step of the way. A special thanks to the students who attended to time their peers, and to all who helped run the meet.
