Artists of the Week

The arts at King’s-Edgehill are an inclusive environment that embraces diversity. Not only in who we are but in our choices of what we pursue and how we express that choice. Imagination and creativity foster the capacity to develop ideas, solve problems, provide life skills, and open the door for opportunities. Intelligence and creativity are overlapping skills and through the arts, a person builds confidence, develops perspective, and finds their true nature.

This week we would like to recognize Royal Akinboro ’26, Ezra Choo ’26, Jessica Etou ’24, Tammy Oyebanji ‘26, and Sara Senior-Smith ‘26. This group of artists have been working hard to perfect their scene, titled Safe Salem, for the upcoming senior school play, A Simpler Time. Each student has developed their character with unique personalities, and they bring an uncontended energy to the stage. Their physicality is hilarious and their commitment to stage presence knows no bounds. They have demonstrated zero hesitation when it comes to being silly or sounding silly, which has made this scene such a success. Their natural talent and acting abilities display a comfort that is rare to find. They have been a true pleasure to watch in rehearsals.

This week we also want to recognize Sofia Ning ’25. Sofia played a crucial role in the successful execution of the Cultural Fair. She served as the emcee for the event, showcasing her talents not only as a singer, dancer, and bass player but also as a positive presence and role model. Her remarkable ability to unite the community and seamlessly adapt to diverse performance settings with her classmates is truly commendable. Sofia consistently demonstrates excellence through her dedicated work ethic and positive attitude.

Finally, we would like to recognize Maran Hawley ’26. Leading up to our Cultural Fair performance and during our daily practices, Maran is emerging as a leader. Her dance skills continue to develop, and it is clear she puts in the extra effort on her own time to ensure she puts her best foot forward. She seeks clarity when needed which in turn benefits the whole team. She wants the best for her teammates and is quick to cheer them on. Maran attends each practice ready to learn and her confidence on stage is growing. In our Cultural Fair performance, she exuded joy, fun, and made smart, speedy decisions to ensure she was in her correct formation spot. This quick thinking, her continued dedication to our sport, and her maturing artistic execution is admirable and is why she is being awarded Artist of the Week.
